Alberschwende is located on a ridge, on the banks of the Bregenz Ache, on the edge of the Bregenz Forest, which is famous for its meadows, forested rocky ridges, and the Winterstaude mountain peak at a distance. The place is an ideal spot for numerous activities. Cross country skiing, skiing, skating, mountain biking to name a few and one cannot get bored in Alberschwende.

The village is well known for its rich and diverse history. It is a typical Austrian village that has lots of fun activities to do in the day as well as at night. There are indubitably plenty of things to do in this ancient village. The ski resort of Alberschwende with its groomed ski slopes is great for all nature lovers and people who wish to enjoy the tranquility of a small, unpopulated ski area.
Located in the district of Bregenz inVorarlberg, Austria; Alberschwende is situated at an altitude of 721 meters (2,365 feet) above sea level. With its total population of only 3,219 people (as on 1 January 2016), the scarcely populated area makes for a perfect holiday spot.
There are 5 airports at a two hours’ drive distance from the place. Of these five; three of the airports, namely, Friedrichshafen Airport, Memmingen Airport and St. Gallen-Altenrhein Airport are just an hour away (in suitable driving conditions), so weekend trips and short unplanned excursions are totally possible!
Skiing at the resort:
The skiing takes place at a relatively low height, which means that the snow cover may vary from place to place. The place, nevertheless, is every skier’s dream destination, with the tranquility and serenity of the atmosphere a perfect companion to the sports fanatic. You will find yourself enveloped by a very different kind of atmosphere.
The place is suitable for both beginners and skiers at the intermediate level. There are 15 pistes in all, with 18 kilometers (11 miles) of downhill pistes (5 kilometers or 3 miles of easy path and the remaining paths of medium difficulty). The place also has 10 kilometers (6 miles ) of cross country ski pistes. There are seven ski lifts ( 1 chair lift and 6 ski tows)in all, and the highest one will take you 1200 meters (3937 feet) above the sea level. The ski lifts can uplift 7300 skiers each hour, so there is no worrying about queuing and crowding there. You could also go for night skiing and enjoy the beautiful winter night moon from up in the mountains. The ski slope is floodlit for night-time tobogganing and will surely guarantee fun for all.
The resorts operate from 28 November 2016 to 23 March 2017 in winters and 10 May 2017 to 26 October 2017 in summers this year. The hours of operation are from 9:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m
Like Alberschwende itself, the ski area is a small and compact, but perfect place. It is pure, serene and untouched, and will cater to the needs of all, be it a diehard sports enthusiast or a young couple looking forward to a weekend getaway!
