Avalanche Reported at Breckenridge Ski Resort-News

According to the Summit County Sheriff’s office, an avalanche has been reported at Breckenridge Ski Resort early Friday afternoon. It occurred near the Imperial Express SuperChair, which provides access to expert terrain.


Sgt. Mark Watson with the sheriff’s office said that the avalanche occurred nearly 12:30 p.m. north of the Imperial Bowl area of the Breckenridge ski resort. Three teenagers were swept up in the avalanche while snowboarding but no one got injured in the avalanched.


Andy Bradford who lives at the base of Peak One in Frisco, where an avalanche cleared a swath of trees this week and stopped just a few hundred yards away from his home said we’ve seen a lot of avalanches over the years. “It’s surreal” and “It’s terrifying,”


The Imperial chairlift is the highest chairlift in the North America at 12,998 feet.
