In Canton, Massachusetts on the western face of the great blue hill is a skiing resort that is very warm to its guests, Blue Hills Ski Area. Founded in 1949 the skiing resort was officially opened in 1950 with various additions and improvements throughout the decades in which the resort was operated. There is a lodge at the resort with food service, restrooms, ski patrol and a small equipment shop for any skiing necessities. A separate building apart from the lodge serves as a rental outlet with locker storage. The Hill is mostly popular for hosting races on the Big Blue and is well known among high school students.
The Mountain has a 635 ft. summit with a base of 326 ft. and a drop of 309 ft. They have a total of 4 lifts of which 1 is Double chairs and remaining 3 are surface lifts. It has a total of 60 acres of skiable area. The whole area of this 60-acre land is covered by snowmaking in the case of absence of natural snow. There are a total 16 trails in Blue Hills Ski Area. All of them almost equally divided on the basis of the level of comfort in skiing. The resort opens in December and remains open for 110 days. It has been opening every year since 16 years.
There is one terrain park which has 60 acres of skiable terrain divided into 13% for beginner’s runs, 25 % intermediate run, and 62% advanced runs. The 60 acres of land offers a variety of range of slopes and depths to which any person will feel comfortable with. One-On-One private lessons are offered to all age groups according to convenience. The lessons are eligible for ages 4 and above, these group lessons have each session which is 75 minutes long. On weekend and holidays, the cost of these sessions is $159 which includes all-day snow pass and all-day rental equipment. On midweek and non-holidays the cost of these sessions are $149 which includes all-day snow pass and all-day rental equipment and the anytime lesson costs $99 provided riders get their own snow pass and equipment.
Semi-Private Lessons are eligible for ages 7 and above. This package lets you have fun with family and friends to ski or ride together in a small group. For a first person, on weekend and holidays the cost of these sessions is $159 which includes all-day snow pass and all-day rental equipment, on midweek and non-holidays the cost of these sessions are $149 which includes all-day snow pass and all-day rental equipment, and the anytime lesson costs $99, mid-weeks cost $89 provided riders get their own snow pass and equipment. For each additional person on weekend and holidays, the cost of this session is $109 which includes all-day snow pass and all-day rental equipment. On midweek and non-holidays, the cost of these sessions is $99 which includes all-day snow pass and all-day rental equipment, and the anytime lesson costs $42 provided riders get their own snow pass and equipment.
There are also various kids programs apart from the above-mentioned ones like little otters for toddler’s aged 3, polar cubs for toddler’s aged 4 to 6 and the big bears for toddlers aged 6 to 7 programs which depend on the age group and ability of the skiing of the child. The pricing of the package ranges from $45 to $79. There are many programs for adults to ski and other programs depending on the requirements of the participants.
The Blue Hills Ski Area has over 60 acres of the skiable area which is served by four lifts of which 1 is a double chair, and 3 are surface lifts. The rate depends on the timing and the day of visitation. On Monday to Wednesdays from 1 pm to 9 pm the cost of ticket is $34 and from 5 pm to 9 pm the ticket costs $29, from Thursday to Friday from 9 am to 9 pm ticket costs $39, from 1 pm to 9 pm the cost of ticket is $34, and from 5 pm to 9 pm the cost is $29.
On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 9 am to 9 pm ticket costs $47, from 1 pm to 9 pm the cost of the ticket is $42 and from 5 pm to 9 pm it costs $35. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays the blue hill closes at 6 pm. Blue Hills Ski Area is a very family friendly resort and has been known for its good hospitality for decades now.
