Bousquet Ski Area is a perfect getaway for those who want to escape the city life.  Located on the northern summit of the Yokun Ridge in Pittsfield, Massachusetts within the Berkshires cultural region the Bousquet skiing area is a family friendly resort. The resort is known for being the oldest existing ski area in The Berkshires. Bousquet is also known for being the inventor of the rope tow gripper which protects the arms and hands of skiers using rope tow lifts and is one of the first skiing areas to introduce night skiing.

The Bousquet Ski Area pride itself of an 1875 ft. summit with a base of 1125 ft. moreover, a vertical drop of 750 ft.  The terrain has a total of 23 runs serviced by five lifts. The resort consists of 2 terrain parks, 200 acres of skiable area with night skiing of 200 that is all of the skiable acres and snowmaking covering about 98 acres which are about 50% of the skiable terrain. The resort is open for snow fun for over 110 days starting in the month of December. The area has 16 years of service with an average snowfall of 83 inches.

Skiing and Snowboarding

 

 

Bousquet Ski Area consists of 2 terrain parks which have 200 acres of skiable terrain divided into 34% for beginner’s runs, 33 % intermediate run and 33% are advanced runs. The longest run on the mountain of Bousquet Ski area is 1 mile long. Night skiing is on the whole terrain skiing and hence whenever you feel like having fun with the winds and steep slopes you can always go for the run here at the resort. The rentals and instructors at the resort are professionals, thus, ensuring your requirements are fulfilled.

Tubing

Bousquet Ski Area offers snow tubing trails to provide fun and better alternative for skiers and snowboarders which are enjoyable to participants of every age. The resort offers five-lane tubing hill that is over 450 ft. long with the features of magic carpet which give you ride up the mountain while standing so that kids will not feel tired after the long slide down the hill.

The session’s tickets are sold for 2 hours each. For a person $20 for 2 hours. The tubing chutes are designed for five-year-olds and older. For people traveling in groups of 15 or more, you can avail the special offer of tickets at $12 for 2 hours and $20 for 4 hours.

Racing

 

 

For those who want to compete with friends or family and have fun while comparing their skills on snow, racing is available at the Bousquet Ski Area. In order to participate, one can have skill of any level and can also get classes from the professional staff at the resort to help you get a firm grip on skiing on the basis of competition. To start racing one must be a member of USSA by registering on their official website.

The different programs are tri-state, interclub and development program. The tri-state training hours are 8:30 – 11:30 or 12:30 -2:30 on weekends.  The interclub training hours are 9:15 – 11:15 or 12:00 -2:00 on weekends. Development program training hours are 9:00 – 11:00 on weekends.

Rentals

 

 

Here at the Bousquet Ski Area, you get all the equipment you desire. The rates of daily rentals are $35 for Skis or Boots or Poles, Snowboards or boots $35 and helmets at all time rate is $10. For adults, the seasonal rentals for the ski and snowboard package costs $169

Season Passes

Season pass benefits of having a Bousquet Ski Area pass are plenty, and you can get access to other mountains that offered reciprocal benefits for Bousquet pass holders. Jay Peak, VT, Bousquet pass holders can purchase a discounted lift ticket at this mountain including weekends and holidays. At the Ski Butternut, MA, Bousquet Season Pass holders receive 50% off the purchase of a full day lift ticket which is valid even on any non-holiday day. At the Catamount Ski Area in South Egremont, MA, Bousquet Mountain season pass holders can save up to 50% on adult, junior or senior lift tickets when they present a valid season pass at the main office.

Lift Tickets


 

The 200 acres of the skiable terrain of Bousquet Ski Area is serviced by a total of 5 lifts of which 3 is a double chair and two surface lifts.  On weekends lift ticket costs $45, seniors aged 70 and above cost $40 and on holiday periods the lift ticket costs $47 and for seniors $42. On midweeks or non-holidays lift ticket costs $25 and seniors aged 70 and above cost $25, at twilight lift ticket, costs $20 and seniors aged 70 and above cost $20, Thursday night owl lift or tubing lift ticket costs $10 and seniors cost $10.

On the Sunday Saver and non-holidays lift ticket costs $30 and seniors aged 70 and above cost $30, For beginner carpet only rides lift ticket costs $15 and seniors cost $15 and tubing which is valid for people aged 5, and older lift ticket costs $18 and seniors aged 70 and above cost $18.

The lift is operational depending on the days and is subjected to change in schedule when required due to weather conditions and is operational on weekdays from 9 am to 9 pm, on Sundays, 9 am to 4 pm and evening hours include from 3 pm to 9 pm.

The Bousquet Ski Area offers many varieties of challenges with various sports like snow tubing, a tube jump, and a variety of ski trails. The medium range skiers will find the Bousquet Ski Area very fun and adventurous as for the higher level skiers, the experts these glades and slopes will not be enough to fulfill their taste buds and the thrill of skiing. The resort gives you an old school feel at the Bousquet Ski Area which is small and consists of no frills.

The double chair lifts are slow comparatively and cause agitation for passengers. The terrain parks have many events according to the season planned annually to entertain its guests at best. Though the area has poorly groomed slopes, the customer care and homely feel of the resort have gained a lot of recognition despite having slow lifts and sometimes arguably working equipment. The snowfall when fresh are a sight to see and enjoy, as many reviewers have had a bad experience with the level of snow on the resort.
