Breitnauski resort is located in the High Black Forest region, Hochschwarzwald in Germany (Baden-Württemberg, Freiburg region). The elevation of the resort is 1,000 to 1,200 m (2789 ft to 4593 ft). So, this resort is among the ten highest resorts of Germany.The vertical drop from the summit to the base is 200 m (1,804 ft). With as long as 2 miles of slopes and terrain, the Breitnau ski resort is among the ten largest Ski Resorts of the area.
The mean difference in altitude between the base and top stations of Ski Resorts in Germany is approximately 784 ft. Since this resort boasts of a vertical drop as big as 1,804 ft, most runs in the resort relatively longer than at other ski resorts. The ski slopes offer ample space for many kinds of skiing events and competitions. The cross-country ski trail at Breitnau resort leads right past the ski lift, adding to the convenience of the visitors. Tobogganists can enjoy the toboggan slope on their own time. Thus, the management is pretty flexible. For skiing and snowboarding, there is 0.5 km of slopes available all of which are of easy difficulty level and falls in the blue piste category. There are no difficult runs at Breitnau, thus, maintaining the safety of the visitors.
The resort can be accessed by one T-bar / platter/button lift which has a total capacity of 1,000 passengers per hour.The lift has an overall length of 450 m. A children’s ski lift is available too. The popular Wirbstein T-bar lift in Breitnau is ideal for children, families, and basically, all sorts of beginners. The warm-ups and practice take place in the ski hut.
The day ski pass for Breitnau costs 16 to 18 euros for adults that come to be about 17 to 18 US dollars. For kids under the age of 16 years, the price is around 11 to 12 euros, that is, around 11 to 13 US dollars. The prices mentioned above are an all – day ski pass with the Red inclusive card. Multi – day and hourly tickets are also available at Breitnau ski resort.
The general season of the functioning of the resort is from early January to mid March. Snow coverage at the resort is at its best during the month of January. It offers an average snow depth of about 13 inches at summit elevation and around 7 inches at the base station. Therefore, Breitnau is known to be among the top 10 ski Resorts with best snow conditions in the area. The resort opens p at 10 am in the morning. Visitors can enjoy the slopes till 4 pm in the evening. The timings can vary based on external conditions, day of the week, school holidays and public holidays.
