As soon as the winter sets its foot in, the crazy idea to do something new and refreshing start popping up in our heads. For those who love the winters, it is a season to be enjoyed and cherished. They do not curl up in the bed and watch television under a blanket in this season. They want to go out, travel, wear fancy clothes and drink coffee. Some even think of crazy ideas like eating ice-creams, having a snow fight, and making snowman and snow angels. The best thing to do on your vacation this winter is to plan a trip to some phenomenal ski resort and enjoy the extraordinary value of skiing and snowboarding there. Theses resorts take skiing seriously and take it to a whole new level.
Once the time passes, it never returns. So, it is crucial to make the most out of what we have. To gain excellent skiing and snowboarding expertise, one should head to the Dodge Ridge Skiing Area and Resort. It is a tourist valued resort situated in the Tuolumne County, to a distance from the Highway 108 and about 48 km East of Sonora. Located near the Pinecrest, the California-based resort provides exceptional skiing experience to all its skiers and snowboarders. Its proximity to the San Joaquin Valley, Yosemite National Park and the San Francisco Bay Area makes it more popular among skiers and tourists. Owned by the Helm Family, it is run under a special permit from the U.S. Forest Service.
The Purdy family founded the resort. The foundation of the resort is based on core family values, whether it be from the former Purdy Family or the now existing, Helm Family. The resort has a history of about 62 years, of this, the Helm Family has owned and managed the resort for 39 years. The progress and growth of the resort are all a part of the hard work and dedication the Helm Family put in. They have worked endlessly towards the betterment of the resort, and as a result, the resort is one of the finest skiing regions in California. The Family expanded the business, with the installation of Lifts 7 and Lifts 8 in 1985 and 1988, consecutively. This expansion led to a significant change as it increased the skiable area thrice the prior area for skiers and riders.
On their road to developing this grand ski area, they laid out the 15 years Master Development Plan which has guided the development work over the decade. The 1st part of the plan was completed in 2007 with an expansion of $6 million base area. It included an increase in 16,000 square feet Family Lodge. The Family Lodge consists of the guest service centre, day use lockers, ticket sales, the North Fork Bistro and the Children Snow-sports centre. One of the most amazing recent developments was the installation of T-Bar T643 in 2011. The family plans on advancing and making the place more attractive for the skiers and riders with various expansions and installations. This makes it one of the best places to visit in the region and have fun with family and friends.
Now that you have a clear idea of the history and location of the area, it is important that you take into view the skiable area, the number of lifts, tourist facilities, staff behaviour and other facts in your mind to ensure that you have a fun vacation. The resort can be dated back to 1950, and it provides 862 acres skiable area for all skiers and riders. The Stagecoach Park is believed to the most advanced as it includes large jumps, a fifteen-foot wall, and a staircase insert. The ski resort also offers many cross country skiing experiences and also snowshoeing.
The various advancements have led to an increase in visitors and skiers; this does not mean one has to wait in line and travel slowly from lifts. There are 12 lifts; that’s what makes it easy to transport people to ski area. These are eight chairlifts, one rope lift, two conveyor lessons and one T643 lift. With the installation of T643, there was a significant increment in the skiable land in 2011. The lifts are generally open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day.
