Reaching the most unique powder destination in British Columbia can be long but every minute of this journey will be worth it. The Fernie Alpine Resort is situated just in the south eastern corner of the Canadian Rockies which are located in British Columbia.

The best way to reach this powder destination can be done by taking the Highway number 3. It is quite close to Alberta that is, just about 60 kilometers or 40 miles and the borders of United States as well.

  • By the Road: If you wish to drive or take public transportation to Fernie then be ready to experience the spectacular sceneries on your way. You can take the Greyhound Bus Lines and it will take you – to and from Calgary and this journey is conducted twice every day. There is also the Kootenay Taxi – they provide rental services at all the possible budget levels. If you wish you can also take the shuttle services that are available from the town of Ferine to the resort area. You can also make the necessary bookings online prior to the date of actual travel.



  • By Air: Now, on the other hand, if you are travelling by air then you must know about the various airports that are situated in close proximity to the mountain –
    • Calgary International Airport: It is just 3.5 hours away and is served by all the major airlines of North America along with other European cities. It is also the closest of the international airports from the ski area and provides multiple flights on a daily basis. You can also find ferry services from the airport to the skiing destination.
    • Cranbrook, British Columbia: It is located at a distance of 1.25 hours and you will find regional air services being provided here such as the Air Canada Jazz and Pacific Coast Airlines operate here.
    • Kalispell, Montana: Located at a distance of 2 hours, Kalispell is serviced by the Delta, Northwest Airlines and Alaska / Horizon Airlines.
    • Spokane, Washington: It is located at a distance of 4 hours and you can take the services of Delta, Northwest Airlines and Alaska / Horizon Airlines.

Tickets and Their Rates

  • Adults: All those individuals who are over and above the age of 18 have to pay CAD $79.75 to get lift tickets for half a day and CAD $99.95 for lift tickets for the whole day. You can also buy these tickets online.
  • Seniors: All those individuals who are over and above the age of 65 have to pay CAD $71.95 to get lift tickets for half a day and CAD $79.95 for lift tickets for the whole day. You can also buy these tickets online.
  • Youth: Individuals who belong to the age group of 13 and 17 years have to pay CAD $63.95 to get lift tickets for half a day and CAD $74.95 for lift tickets for the whole day. You can also buy these tickets online.
  • Child: Individuals who belong to the age group of 6 and 12 years have to pay CAD $31.95 to get lift tickets for half a day and CAD $39.95 for lift tickets for the whole day. You can also buy these tickets online.

Also, remember if you wish to night ski on the Mighty Moose then you will have to account for the following –

  • December 26th to December 31st along with every Saturday beginning from the 7th of January right up to March 25th. This takes place between 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
  • If you purchase a day ticket it remains valid right for night skiing and they too are available at the FAR Rental Shop.
  • All those who are 17 years of age or below do not have to pay anything for night skiing but the adults will have to pay CAD $18.95 in addition to the tax.
