Gunstock Mountain is a family fun resort which offers a variety of snow sports like skiing, snowboarding, zip lines and tubing. The resort was originally called Belknap Mountain Recreation Area which is a snow sports complex. The resort is located on Gunstock Mountains in Gilford, New Hampshire. The resort has been popular for families around the Boston area and offered a lot of night skiing operation so that you could enjoy a slide down the snow whenever you wish to.  The Mountain is renowned for its beautiful view of Lake Winnipesaukee from the top of the Mountain.

Gunstock Mountain Resort pride itself of a 2300 ft. summit with a base of 900 ft. and a sharp vertical drop of 1400 ft. There are over 54 skiing and snowboarding trails for skiers of every level serviced by seven lifts. There are 227 acres of skiable terrain with snowmaking facilities covering up about 176 acres just in case there is low snowfall. The resort is open for about 150 days annually starting from December and is open for 100 days in the season.  The resort allows night skiing up to 60 acres so that you can enjoy skiing any time you wish.

Skiing and Snowboarding

 

 

The Gunstock Mountain has 227 acres of skiable terrain divided into 54 runs of which 12 % are beginner runs, 61 % intermediate run and remaining 27 % expert runs.  There are 3 Terrain parks serviced by seven lifts. With the longest run being 2 miles long. You can also have a scenic memory of the Lake Winnipesaukee for which many national magazines have recommended it. The trails are groomed and prepared such that each trail is suited as per the level of the skier. There are a diverse range and also provide with professional instructors and programs to guide you for better learning.


 

Ziplining

The most awaited and popular sport at the Gunstock Mountain is its zip lines.  It’s like a roller coaster amidst all the snow when you’ll be screaming at the top of your lungs for about 1.6 miles going at a speed of 65 miles per hour. The Gunstock Mountain is noted to have one of the longest zip lines in the U.S. Soaring through the tubes is not the only thrill that you may avail here, there is also aerial obstacle course which is one of the largest in New England offering eight courses and 91 challenges.

Snow Tubing

 

 

The Gunstock Mountain offers New Hampshire’s longest tubing run at the Thrill Hill Tubing Park. The hill is open from Christmas until mid-march on Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights opens from 4 pm till the closing time. It is open all day on Sundays and Saturdays open from 10:30 am until closing time. On holidays we get extended hours as a bonus. These tickets are sold as 2-hour blocks per person, and the charge depends on the age.

The mid-week tickets for a 2-hour session cost $22 and last hour only session on Friday, Saturday and Sunday costs $15. The weekend tickets for a 2-hour session costs $25 and last hour only session on Friday, Saturday and Sunday costs $18. The participants are supposed to be at least 42 inches tall, and ski boots are not allowed.

Racing

The Gunstock Ski Club is one of the oldest organized ski clubs in New Hampshire. They offer ages 6 to 18 training courses to teach them a competition level of skiing. These races are organized within the guidelines of the New Hampshire Alpine Racing Association (NHARA). They have courses for adults and kids, teams, and individuals. The resort trains and hosts races for many school areas.

They offer many training programs depending on the rider’s requirements.  There are adult racing centers to get pro tips, adult race league is where you can make up your own team with friends and compete, family fun racing is a chance to a few runs on the gate to check if you like racing and Kid’s training in which kids are taught in a safe and fun way how to race. On weekends they have Lakes Region Disabled Sports and other special Olympics Alpine race teams join them.

Lift Tickets

 

 

The mountain has seven lifts of which 1 is a high-speed quad, two quad chairs, two triple chairs and two surface lifts. All day tickets for weekends and holidays cost $86 for an adult, $74 for a teen and $62 for a child.  All day tickets for mid-weeks and non-holidays cost $74 for an adult, $62 for a teen and $49 for a child. If booked in advance online, it costs $37 for an adult, $31 for a teen and $25 for a child. Children below the age of 5 can ride the lift free only when they are accompanied by an adult with a ticket.

Half-day lift tickets for weekends and holidays cost $66 for an adult, $56 for a teen and $48 for a child. Half-day tickets for mid-weeks and non-holidays cost $56 for an adult, $46 for a teen and $40 for a child. There are also night skiing tickets for various people like 2 for Tuesday which costs $34, Wall to Wall Wednesday which costs $34, Thursday Night Out which costs $20, Family Friday which costs $99 for a family of 4 and Saturday Night Rocks which costs $44. These are the window rates for night skiing.

You can also add rentals to your lift tickets and pay for them combined. All day tickets for weekends and holidays cost $128 for an adult, $116 for a teen and $98 for a child.  All day tickets for mid-weeks and non-holidays cost $116 for an adult, $104 for a teen and $85 for a child. If booked in advance online it costs as low as $58 for an adult, $53 for a teen and $45 for a child.

The Gunstock Mountain offers many varieties of challenges with various sports like ziplines, snow tubing, a tube jump, and a wide variety of ski trails. The lift takes about 6 minutes to take us to the top of the summit. The place has about 80 years of experience in hospitality and has been one of the best family comfort ski resorts in the area. The trails are guaranteed to offer you a thrilling experience. The whole terrain is well groomed and well suited for its riders.
