Skiing and Snowboarding
The Hochkönig ski area consists of many varied and different terrains for skiers and snowboarders of all levels with a total of 119.89 km (74.5 miles) of land to be skiing which are divided into 38.5 miles of runs of light slopes for beginners, 40.23 km (25 miles) of runs of medium slopes for medium difficulty, 19.31 km (12 miles) of heavy runs for difficult level riders and 8.05 km (5 miles) of free rides and routes are available on this mountain.The mountain is an ideal area for beginners with value for money day passes.
There are also ski schools in the resort which accounts for various packages like Snowwutzel Children club’s which guide children, group and private courses for children and adults for both skiing and snowboarding which are provided at Maria Alm ski school. The other schools are Edelweiss Maria Alm ski school, Hinterthal ski school, Alpinischule ski school, Dientenski school, Top Dientenski school and Muhlbachski school.
There are four main funparks in Hochkönig ski area namely Blue Tomato Kings Park in Mühlbach, Beginner Park Natrun in Maria Alm, FunslopeSchönanger in Maria Alm and LivingRoom at Hochkeil in Mühlbach. The Blue Tomato Kings Park provides over 50 different obstacles including jumps and jibs spanned across a mile. The FunslopeSchönangerhas a viewpoint located directly on the Schönangerbahnclose to the village center in Maria Almwhich provides with 849.77 m (2788 feet) of steep curves, a wave train, rainbow butter box and chime along with a large Riesenschnecke with 30 meters in diameter. On every Tuesday, you get to experience freestyle deposits in the magic arena.
Beginner Park is a small park at the Simmerlift which consists of a Light line with two boxes, a ski jump, and a wave track. The LIVING ROOM snow park is designed for snowboarders and freeskiers of all skill levels which relies completely on natural snow. This snow park has a setup of Rainbow box 5.97 m (19.6 ft), Straight box 5.97 m (19.6 ft), Curved box 8.83 m (29 ft), Straight T profile 3.96 m (13 ft), kinked T profile7.01 m (23 ft), Wal ride 4.87 m (16 ft) and Tube Wal ride 4.87 m (16 ft).
The Hochkönig ski area has 32 lifts of which 18 are drag lifts, and 9 are chairlifts, and 5 are cable cars. The rate of tickets depends on age and the time of visitation. There are many reductions like the youth, the elderly and family reductions on these passes. Children under the age of 6 accompanied by adults are free of cost regarding tickets. From 11 am an adult ticket costs €46, child ticket costs €22, and for youth ticket costs €34. From 12 pm an adult ticket costs €40, child ticket costs €19 and for youth ticket costs €30. From 1 pm an adult ticket costs €34, child ticket costs €17 and for youth ticket costs €26 and. Up to 1 pm an adult ticket costs €40, child ticket costs €19 and for youth ticket costs €30.
The price of tickets for one day is €46 for adult, €22for children and €34 for youth. The price of tickets for two days is €99 for adult, €49 for children and €74 for youth. The price of tickets for four days is €192 for adult, €96 for children and €144 for youth. The price of tickets for five days is €201 for adult, €118 for children and €156 for youth. The price of tickets for six days is €249 for adult, €124 for children and €187 for youth.
