Pejo
3000 Ski Resort of Northern Italy to become the first ski area to go
plastic-free in Europe. The Ski Resort is located right within the Stelvio
National Park, in Trentino’s Val di Sole. The Resort announced that
they’re banning glasses, straws, bottles, disposable cutlery, and other
single-use plastic items—including packets of mayonnaise and ketchup from their
mountain huts in an attempt to make them more environmentally sustainable.
Scientists
found that the surface of the Forni glacier near Pejo 3000 contained 131 to 162
million plastic particles. The study of scientists encourages Ski Resort to
make their ski area a plastic-free zone.
