Japan’s Hokkaido Ski Resort Hit By Avalanche-News

Hokkaido ski resort of Japan was hit by an avalanche on Thursday. It hit a group of eight foreign skiers and believed to kill at least one. As per the nearby Shimukappu village office, the group was skiing outside of a designated course near the Tomamu ski resort in central Hokkaido when an avalanche hit the destination.

The village official Atsushi Tada said that one skier who escaped from the snow called police asking for help. One French skier in his early 40’s is feared to be dead and six other skiers are survived. Hokkaido police rescue teams were expected to head to the site for their rescue and the operation may be hampered by risks of another avalanche.
