King Pine - Fun Amidst the Scenic Valley

King Pine is a ski resort located in Madison Carroll County, New Hampshire known for being family friendly. It is a valley in White Mountains National Forest mostly consists of trails that serve beginner and intermediate level skiers and thus helps form a firm base of the basics of skiing. The Mountains block most of the cold winds which make for most of the days being pleasant for a ski down the mountain without any hindrance. King Pine Resort prides itself of an 850 ft. summit with a base of 500 ft. base and a 350 ft. vertical drop. The 2 Terrain parks comprise a total of 17 runs serviced by six lifts in total. There are 48 acres of skiable Terrain with snowmaking covering up about 45 acres just in case there is low snowfall. It opens for snow sports for a total of 105 days starting from December; the mountain is blessed with an average snowfall of 120 inches. The resort has experience in entertaining guests for about half a century. The place attracts thousands of visitors every week during the winters, thanks to its favorable location and top quality services that it has on offer for the guests.

Skiing and Snowboarding

 

 

King Pine offers you 48 acres of skiable terrain with a total of 17 trails of which 44% are beginner runs, 31% are for intermediate runs, 10% of advanced runs and 15% for the experts. The terrain park allows 23 acres of night skiing.  Snowmaking covers more than 90% of the land and hence there will always be snow fun regardless of the absence of natural snow. The most adventurous trail, the pitch pine is found on this mountain. This trail is said to be one of the steepest trails in all of New England. There is also Twisted Pine Terrain Park with many exciting curves and bumps.

Ice Skating

Ice skating is fun when gathered as a family or friends. The King Pine offers ice skating located near the King Pine base lodge. The skating ring is called Tohko Dome skating rink which opens at 8:30 a.m. daily. And stays open till 9:30 pm and on midweek it stays open and well-lit till 10:30 in the night. The rental skates are $6 for public; it is also complimentary for those staying at the spring resort, and a valid king pine lifts ticket. These rentals have to be returned at the end of the day to Tavern at King Pine or Purity Spring main desk. If you haven’t had a chance to try ice skating yet, now is the perfect time to do so. Winters are just around the corner, and you can enjoy this amazing snow sport this year without having to wait for next winters.

Snowshoeing

 

 

For all those adventurous explorers, the resort offers a peaceful walk through the woods with snowshoeing. The extended trail network around Purity Spring Resort is taking a quite hike up the hill. You can also explore the NH Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary which is nearby. There is no fee for this sport. However, it is required that the person involved in snowshoeing should carry a valid trail pass or a lift ticket which is valid only for that date. In winters snowshoe tours may have a guide if required. The guided tours cost $12 per person and $20 if rentals are included. Snowshoeing at such affordable rates is truly an amazing offer you cannot afford to refuse at any cost.

Snow Tubing

The King Pine Resort provides snow tubing to provide for an adventure when skiers want some options when they feel like a change. The Pine Meadows Snow tubing Park at this resort has a handle-tow lift. There are numerous well-groomed snow chutes through which they can slide through. The park is open for tubing from Friday through Sunday and several holiday periods. The tickets can be pre-booked online, and also the tickets come in 2-hour sessions which are charged according to the age of the passenger.

Lift Tickets

 

 

The king pine has a total of 6 lifts of which 3 are triple chairs and 3 are surface lifts.  A one-day weekend ticket for an adult costs $55 and for a junior/senior the ticket costs $38.  A one day midweek ticket for an adult costs $40, and for a junior or senior the ticket costs $30.   A half-day lift ticket for a weekend for an adult costs $43, and for a junior or senior the ticket costs $28.  Half day midweek ticket for an adult costs $35 and for a junior/senior the ticket costs $35.

The Twilight weekend or holiday ticket for an adult costs $43, and for a junior or senior the ticket costs $28. The Twilight midweek or holiday tickets for an adult costs $35 and for a junior/senior the ticket costs $25. The beginners pass for a day which is valid to anytime for an adult costs $40 and for a junior/senior the ticket costs $25.

The resort also offers multi-day tickets. A 2-day weekend ticket for an adult costs $99, and for a junior or senior the ticket costs $66. A 3-day weekend or holiday ticket for an adult costs $139 and for a junior/senior the ticket costs $90. A 4-day weekend or holiday ticket for an adult costs $179 and for a junior/senior the ticket costs $119.  A 5-day weekend or a holiday ticket for an adult costs $214 and for a junior/senior the ticket costs $145. Tuesday nights have special offers like $10-night skiing tickets, $10 rentals and for foodies a $10 beer and burgers. On Sundays, the ticket charges are reduced in the afternoons to only $29 Adults & $19 juniors.

The staff is very experienced and cares about whether or not you have a good experience responding to grievances as soon as possible. The place is affordable, and the slopes are best suited for both beginner and intermediate level skiers. The mountain is mostly not crowded which adds up to a more peaceful time for those that enjoy the silence.
