Located in the Mountain Orford National Park in Eastern Townships region of Quebec, in Canada, is the mountain and ski resort area commonly known as Mont Orford. Mont Orford is the highest skiable mountain in the Eastern Townships.

With an average snowfall of about 140 inches per year, Mont Orford is an ideal place for all the ski and snowboard lovers. Mont Orford is known for having a large skiable area of about 244 acres which is almost 94 acres bigger than most of the average ski resorts. The snow score of this mountain is four.

There are about 44 trails in total and nine lifts. These lifts include one gondola ride, 2 four seated surface lifts, one triple chairlift, three double chairlifts, and two surface lifts. ACCESSIBILITY

The resort is located in the western part of the United States, and is a ski resort that finds itself located in the Colville National Forest in Stevens County, Washington. It is at a distance of 10 miles (16 km) east of Chewelah and 42 miles (68 km) north of Spokane which makes it readily available from the highways connecting these towns.

SPECIFICATIONS

The resort lays claim to a lift-served vertical drop of 1851 feet. The base at 49 degrees north ski resort is at an elevation of 3,923 feet (1,196 m) from the sea level while the highest peak is located at an altitude of 5,774 feet (1,760 m) on Chewelah Mountain, which gives a vertical drop of 1,851 feet (564 m). The resort experiences an annual snowfall of about 301 inches.

Trails


The vertical elevation of Mont Orford is about 1794 ft, the base elevation reaches up to 1000 ft, and the summit
elevation rises to 2798 ft. Three parking lots are also provided. Parking lot P1 is free on weekends.

About 207 acres of land is available for snow making. The longest run provided is of 1 mile. There is one terrain park also in Mont Orford.

The tickets for Principal chalet also known as the Black Roof are available at the end of parking space P1 to the right of the entrance to the site.

The Secondary chalet also known as the Red Roof consists of Surf School, Holiday Centre as well as several shops. Equipment can be rented from the Holiday Centre. The shop area which is located in secondary cottage consists of various sports articles and also bike ski shop.

There are a number of lifts in Mont Orford. These include the Hybrid Gondola, Magic Carpet 6 (ORFORD), Magic Carpet 8, and Triple (Rapido). Apart from these, there are several other lifts as well such as that in Mount Giroux North, Mount Giroux East, and Mount Alfred Desrochers.

Mount Giroux north contains quad Giroux North and Magic Carpet 7 (GIROUX). Mount Giroux east contains quad Giroux east. Moreover, Mount Alfred DesRoschers contains double Alfred Desrochers.

The tracks are divided into four categories that are easy, difficult, very difficult, and extreme. There are about 21 easy tracks which account for 34% of the total track. There are two under growths too. The difficult tracks are 16 in number which is 26% of the total. It also has three undergrowths. A total of 8 tracks is leveled as very difficult ones. It accounts for 13% of the total tracks with zero undergrowth.

Beginners of all ages have access to about three magic carpets in total. Of the nine lifts, five go down the slopes of three summits.

The skiing and snowboarding are spread out over three mountain summits namely Orford, Desrochers, and Giroux.

In this program children of 2 to 6 years of age groups are provided with a number of activities such as DIY stories and array of other games. A nap in the afternoon is also planned for younger children so that the parents may ski freely while leaving behind their children in careful hands.

There is a five days carnet, a complete day program, and a ten days carnet as well. The prices differ from program to program. Layers, wet towels, slippers, shoes, spare clothes, outdoor clothing and boots, comforter, and nap accessories are also included in this program.

There is a School of Gliding as well which contains children’s programs, adult programs, private lessons and introductory packages, children’s camps, Orford Academy, Parent Zone, etc.

Clubs and events

The Mont Orford ski clubs aim at bringing the skiers together through its various competitions. The Orford free riders club is a club which is open to all skiers and snowboarders. The Acrobatic Ski Club is for developing the skills of the skiers and for teaching them new techniques of different bumps and jumps.
