Surrounded by the Mount Seymour Provincial Park area within the district of North Vancouver, British Columbia the Mt. Seymour ski destination is one true fantastic location. The mountain is said to have been operating since the late 1930s and has since then been owned by individuals of Swedish descent and the Government of British Columbia.

The Mount Seymour Ski Area today has 4 lifts and wonderful terrain parks. Here individuals of all skill levels can find their own niche. Here you will find the vertical drop to be at 330 meters or 1,083 feet and how can one forget the best snow in the world. The region receives an average 1000 centimeters or 394 inches of snowfall every year. There are 39 marked trails and numerous unmarked ones which facilitate skiing and snowboarding. The longest of the trails measures 1.6 kilometers or 1 mile in length.

It is one of the very few skiing destinations which offer nearly 40 hectares of its total skiable terrain for night skiing. The night skiing terrain is particularly well lit and is definitely a unique site. The region is naturally endowed and the various gullies, tree runs, slope and finally the terrain park is equally great and fantastic. Reaching Mt. Seymour



There are various options through which you can reach Mt. Seymour. Also, a few details regarding these options are needed to be considered. Read on to know more:

Driving: If you are driving then you must know that the road leading to Mt. Seymour is classified as a Class A Highway. Therefore all the vehicles must be equipped with the winter tires and also must be in good working condition.
Shuttle: The Mt. Seymour Shuttle Bus Services operate from Rupert Skytrain Station which is in located in East Vancouver and take you to the base of the mountain. On this journey, you will pass the Parkgate Community Center to the Resort. As a passenger, you will be required to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled departure hour.
The pickup and drop locations are listed below:

o    Rupert Skytrain Station, East Vancouver: The loading zone is located outside the Liqour Distribution Branch which is opposite to the Rupert Skytrain Station.

o    Parkgate Community Centre: The pickup location is in front of the Parkgate Community Centre / Library.

o    Mt Seymour: The pickup is located at the south end of the Three Peaks Lodge.

Rates for the shuttle service can be listed below:

o    Parkgate Community Centre – Each Way: The adults (between the age of 19 and 59 years) will have to pay CAD $6 and the youth (between 13 and 18 years), child (between 6 and 12 years) and seniors (above the age of 60 years) will have to pay CAD $6.

o    Rupert Station, East Vancouver – Each Way: The adults (between the age of 19 and 59 years) will have to pay CAD $8 and the youth (between 13 and 18 years), child (between 6 and 12 years) and seniors (above the age of 60 years) will have to pay CAD $8.

o    Parkgate Shuttle Season Pass: The adults (between the age of 19 and 59 years) will have to pay CAD $49 and the youth (between 13 and 18 years), child (between 6 and 12 years) and seniors (above the age of 60 years) will have to pay CAD $49.

o    Rupert Station Shuttle Season Pass: The adults (between the age of 19 and 59 years) will have to pay CAD $99 and the youth (between 13 and 18 years), child (between 6 and 12 years) and seniors (above the age of 60 years) will have to pay CAD $99.

Mt. Seymour resort area provides you with multiple options when it comes to purchasing the seasons passes. The easiest of them is by just placing a phone call on – 604 986 2261.

From the current season onwards the resort has reintroduced their Reciprocal Mountain Deals. It is a pass program which enables the holder to be able to enjoy as many as 2 complimentary lift tickets at powder destinations such as – Mt. Washington, Manning Park and the famous Apex Mountain Resort. The best part about this deal is that you will have access to all the above-mentioned area by just paying a nominal fee of CAD $355 which would otherwise have cost you CAD $410. Also, if you go on to purchase any additional lift tickets they will be made available to you at a discount of 25%. Further details of this deal can be found below:


Manning Park Resort: An adult’s lift ticket carries a rate of CAD $104 and the offer includes 2 lift tickets on any of the nonconsecutive days. Furthermore, it cannot be availed by combining them with an event, promotion or other products.
Mt Washington Alpine Resort: An adult’s lift ticket at this resort carries a rate of CAD $156 and the offer includes 2 lift tickets on any of the nonconsecutive days. Furthermore, it also cannot be availed by combining them with an event, promotion or other products.
Apex Mountain Resort: An adult’s lift ticket at the Apex Mountain Resort area carries a rate of CAD $150 and the offer includes 2 lift tickets on any of the nonconsecutive days. Furthermore, it cannot be availed by combining them with an event, promotion or other products.

These passes are of the non-transferable kind.
These passes are meant for the 2016 / 2017 season only as of now.
There is no cash alternative available.
The Mt Seymour season pass holders must produce a valid 2016 / 2017 season pass at the time of purchase.
The blackout periods are as follows – December 23rd to January 2nd & February 11th, 12th, and 13th.

Broadly, the general pass rates for the current season can be listed as below:

Adults: Individuals who are anywhere between the age of 19 and 59 years can get their hands on the seasons pass by paying a fee of CAD $819.
Youth: Individuals who are anywhere between the age of 13 and 18 years can get their hands on the seasons pass by paying a fee of CAD $589.
Child: Individuals who are anywhere between the age of 6 and 12 years can get their hands on the seasons pass by paying a fee of CAD $159.
Tots: Children who are of the age of 5 years or below can get their hands on the seasons pass by paying a fee of CAD $29.
Students: These guys can get their hands on the seasons passes by paying CAD $819.
Seniors: Individuals who are of the age of 60 and above can get their hands on the seasons pass by paying a fee of CAD $819.
Family: Groups that have 2 adults and children can get their hands on the seasons pass by paying a fee of CAD $1999.
The Mt Seymour resort also lists certain prerequisite terms and conditions which the visitors must satisfy before they can purchase the required season pass. They are mentioned bellow:

Season pass eligibility is based on the age of the season pass holder on November 1, 2016.
All season pass holders sharing a Family Pass 1 or 2 Adult must live at the same address.
Mt Seymour will not be offering a 100 Day Guarantee for the 2016 / 2017 season.
Season Passes are non-refundable and non-transferable unless the Pass Insurance is purchased.
All sales are subject to the acceptance of the Release Agreement.
A Family with 1 Adult Pass can be created with the same combinations as the Family 2 Adult Pass but with only 1 Adult. A second adult cannot be added. Families will save an additional between 5 % and 10 % through the Family 1 Adult Pass compared to buying the season passes separately. The price of CAD $397 (Early bird rate) represents 1 adult and 1 child. Additional children, students and youth passes can be added at extra cost.
The Student Pass is only available to students who are enrolled in three or more courses in the Fall or Winter semesters and their post-secondary education provider is listed here. Distance, Paid Co-op, or internships are not eligible. When collecting their pass, students will need to bring a timetable with their name on it, Student ID, and Government ID.
A Family 2 Adult Pass can consist of 2 adults and 2 youth, 2 adults and 3 children, 2 adults and 1 youth with 2 children, 2 adults and 1 student, 2 adults with 1 student and 1 child. International Students and foster children can also be added to the Family Pass. Additional youth passes can be bought for CAD $150 and child passes for CAD $50 each. This offer applies to students who meet the Student Pass criteria and live at the same address as the rest of their family. All pass holders sharing a family pass must live at the same address unless otherwise agreed before the purchase.

Safety




The Mt Seymour powder area strictly follows the Alpine Responsibility Code and the Nordic Skiers Responsibly Code. Now, the resort also requires its visitors to maintain and observe them in the most sincere manner possible.

The pointers of the code have been listed below, kindly put them to memory before you embark upon the slopes:

Always stay in control. You must be able to stop or avoid other people or objects.
People ahead have the right-of-way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.
Do not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible from above.
Before starting downhill or merging onto a trail, look uphill and yield to others.
If you are involved in or witness a collision or accident, you must remain at the scene and identify yourself to the Ski Patrol.
Always use proper devices to help prevent runaway equipment.
Observe and obey all posted signs and warnings.
Keep off closed trails and closed areas.
You must not use lifts or terrain if your ability is impaired through use of drugs or alcohol.
You must have sufficient physical dexterity, ability and knowledge to safely load, ride and unload lifts. If in doubt, ask the lift attendant.
The Nordic code is as follows:

Ski in indicated direction and observe all signs
Ski to the right when passing or skiing a double track.
Descending skiers always have the right of way.
Don’t litter. Pack it in, pack it out…and respect private property.
Don’t obstruct the trail. Move off the track quickly if you fall or while taking a break.
Yield the track to faster skiers or skiers saying “track” by stepping off to the right.

Situated in the Alpine Activity Center is also the Service Shop of Mt. Seymour. Here you can avail facilities such as waxing, tune-ups and full ASTM binding testing. You can get all the gears used in skiing and snowboarding and get them into 100 % functional prowess.

The resort offers different ways through which you can rent out the equipment. For instance, if you plan on renting them on multiple occasions during a given season, in that case, you can opt for the pass system. The rental store is located in the Alpine Activity Center and this store opens up about 15 minutes before the scheduled opening hour of the mountain.
