Baker which accounts for the highest range of snowfall and is well suited for skiing and snowboarding and also for other fun activities and events.

In the northwest region of the United States, in Whatcom County, Washington, at the end of State Route 542, is located the Mt. Baker Ski Area which is a total of 1000 acres. The snow falls up to 1100 inches in one season which makes it a world record holder for snowfall. Also, Mt. Baker is among the most photographed mountains in the world.

Mt. Baker, also known as Koma Kulshan, receives an average snowfall of 659 inches. Several lodgings are also provided from west to east along Mt. Baker Highway 542. The ski area is well known for its family atmosphere and for having a remote location. The remote location creates a peaceful environment in contrast to other skiing areas. Lifts and Elevations


Mt. Baker has several runs, chairlifts, and elevations, handle tows, etc.

The elevations in Mt. Baker range from 1500ft. to 5000ft. The vertical rise reaches up to 1500ft., White Salmon rises to 3500ft., Heather Meadows up to 4300ft. and Panorama Dome up to the highest 5000 ft. There is a total of 8 quad chairs and two handle tows.

One handle tow is located at White Salmon and the other at Heather Meadows.

Chair 1 gives access to the top of Panorama Dome from the upper base area of Heather Meadows Lodge. Chair 2 is for the beginners. The access to Raven Hut or return to chair two is provided by chair 3. Chair 4 is from Raven Hut Lodge to chair 3. Chair 5 accesses the intermediate terrain. On top of Panorama Dome runs chair 6. The 7th chair provides access to White Salmon Lodge base area. And, the longest chair, chair 8 gives access to the Hemispheres and Shuksan Arm backcountry areas. All this makes Mt. Baker ski resort one of the best ski areas in the region where you can hang out with family and friends and make the most of your winter holidays.

Lessons and Specialty Programs


The lessons include beginners’ lesson, intermediate group lessons, private lessons and kids ski handle tow lessons – all of which aim at the enhancement of skiing techniques in order to ensure a safe and secured ski and snowboard adventure.

A variety of specialty programs is also provided. It includes all-mountain clinics which focus on line selection, steep tactics, off-piste conditions and deep powder. Racer Development and Adaptive Program are also a part of this specialty program.

Apart from these lessons and programs, Mt. Baker ski area also provides mountain education courses like the Mountain Education Centre which conducts snow safety seminars, transceiver skills, custom classes, etc. The Mt. Baker Snow School Program deals with snowshoe powdered exploration. The main focus of these programs is to ensure mountain safety. In short, Mt. Baker provides a whole lot of safety programs because they cannot afford to neglect our safety while having fun. This makes Mt. Baker the perfect place to enjoy skiing and other fun activities.

Mt. Baker provides 31 runs in total. The easiest run accounts up to 24% of the total runs provided. 45% of these runs are for the intermediate ones. As for the experts, 31% of the total is provided.

However, there is no facility of snowmaking or night skiing. Also, Mt. Baker’s terrains are excessively inbound and are mostly below the tree line and has huge accessible backcountry.

The location of Mt. Baker is coastal apart from being remote. The elevation is relatively low. The steep and natural terrains work like an icing on the already delicious cake that is Mt. Baker. There is always a rush for this egg hunt because it is real fun and when it comes to prizes, no one wants to miss that opportunity. Mt. Baker ski resort also organizes Valentine Dinner on 14th February each year. MLK LBS Local’s Qualifier is a snowboard race for the locals of Mt. Baker whose winner takes part in the Legendary Banked Slalom. Other events include Komo Kids Carnival where barbecue, tug-of-war, prizes related to it and several other things are included. Your kids can have a lot of fun and this can be the perfect holiday destination for them, a thing they’ve always wanted to do.

Then there’s the IFSA Junior Freeride which is an expert skiing and boarding run. As it is an expert’s run, beginners cannot take part in it. The resort has gained the “double diamond” status.
