Muttereralm is a small ski resort located in the Tirol region in Austria. It takes just 10 minutes to reach this place from Innsbruck. This ski resort has a top elevation of 1800 m (5905 ft.) while the base elevation is 920 m (3018 ft.). Muttereralm has an impressive vertical descent of about 880 m (2887 ft.).  It has 38 ha (94 acres) of skiing area. The ski resort has reliable snow all the time, owing to its fantastic snow-making facilities. There are 145 snow canons which ensure that there’s enough snow on the slopes.

 

Lifts

There are four lifts available in the area to service the guests. The total lift length is 7.1 km (4.4 mi). These lifts have a total capacity of 6800 passengers in an hour. Of these lifts, 2 are gondola lifts, one is a chairlift, and the other one is a T-bar lift or pommel lift. The eight-seater gondola lifts connect the ski resort to most of the runs. The four-seater chairlift and the pommel lift are available in the upper part of the ski resort for snowboarders and skiers. The runs or pistes cover 16 km (10 mi) of the total length of slope. Skiing

Though Muttereralm is small in size, it offers different varieties of runs or pistes to accommodate the needs of different levels of skiers. The majority of the slopes are either easy or of intermediate level. The valley runs to Mutters is the longest run with an elevation difference of 880 m (2887 ft.). It runs from the highest point of the ski resort to Mutters and is 5 km (3 mi) long.

Blue slopes- The ski resort offers easy, wide and manageable slopes for beginners or slow skiers. There is also a provision for special slopes which enable quick learning for beginners. 7 km (4.3 mi) or 44% of the runs are blue slopes. The 3400 m (2 mi) long Muttereralm run is one of the major attractions for beginners.

Red slopes- Half of the slopes in this area are of intermediate level. The 4200 m (2.6 mi) long Götzens run beside the two 8-person gondola lifts. It is not recommended for amateur skiers. If you want to test your skills, you can try these slopes. 8 km (5 mi) of the slopes in this area are red slopes.

Black slopes- There are not many black slopes in the area. The ski resort has just one slope for advanced skiers. It is located near the quad Pfriemesköpfl chairlift. It is 1 km (0.62 mi) long with a vertical descent of 205 m (672 ft.). There are no mogul slopes in the region.

The ski area in Muttereralm is ideal for beginners and children to learn skiing. It also caters to the demand of adult members of the family. The ski resort also has something in the plate for the adventure seekers. The panoramic view is mesmerizing. Race down the hills and feel a gush of cold air on your cheeks. Ski Mountaineering

 

If you want to take in the majestic beauty of the mountains, what’s better than ski mountaineering! Climb the mountains to explore the beautiful landscape at your own pace and spend your own sweet time enjoying the impressive view of the Alps. A new tour track is installed on the “Pfriemesköpfl” which is perfect for beginners and serves as a preparatory tour for tougher mountain tours. The downhill journey on the perfectly groomed slopes is heavenly bliss. The slopes are open for ski touring from Monday to Friday from 4 pm to 8 pm. On Wednesdays, it remains open until 10 pm. The service is not available on Saturdays and Sundays; only skiing is allowed on these two days.

 

 

 

Snowbike Parkour

 

For all the bike riders out there, you need not yield your love for bike riding in the winter. You can drift down the snowy slopes on snow or fat bike. It is a thrilling combination of biking and skiing and is easy to learn. The snow bike school, Markus Apperle, located at the mountain station of Muttereralm hosts hourly drives every day. It is open from 9.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. This winter try something new. Even if you are not into bike riding, racing down the snowy slopes on your bike will be a fresh and exciting experience for you. Pistenbock

 

Anyone can enjoy the pistenbock irrespective of their age. It is a controllable sled that comes in different sizes which can be driven in the toboggan runs. It is easy to operate which makes it possible for children to use it as well. The variation in size allows the kids to bring their foot to the bottom. There are different models which are available for individuals and couples alike. Pistenbock is the perfect family fun-time sport. From kids to adults, everyone can experience the fun of riding it. You need to get reservations to use the pistenbock. It is available for 2 hours. You can drive it in the family sledding slopes and sporty speedy runs. It is prohibited on the skiing slopes.

 

Fun for Children

 

There are many bunny slopes around the area where children and beginners can sharpen their skiing skills. These areas can boost up their confidence and increase their appetite for skiing. The breathtaking beauty and panoramic vistas around the Alm is a sight to behold. The little ones have a gala time on these slopes with instructors to guide them who make the learning process interesting and fun.

Kinderland- Kinderland is located near the Mountain Station of the Muttereralm Cable Car. Just beside is an ideal slope for children along with covered Magic Carpet. It is situated right beside the Almboden tow lift. The team is very professional and committed. However, the main attraction of the school is the Fairy Tale Forest.

Kiddies Park- It is near the Speicher Lake and teaches young holidaymakers the tricks to master skiing. It offers various facilities including an adventure area, children carousel, lifts for children, a special area for children, magic carpet, ski classes for kids, playground, and child sitting. While you enjoy the slopes with your spouse, your little ones will be under the guidance of professional childcare specialists.

Ski Classes- There are two ski classes in the area which provide ski lessons from beginner’s to the advanced level. They take children who are 3+ years old. The highly trained tutors share their passion with the little and big skiers to help them onto the slopes.
