The best ski resort to visit this winter would surely be Oberperfuss-RanggerKopfl. Located in the Sellraintal region in Tyrol, Austria, this ski resort offers various winter sports and undoubtedly the panoramic view of the beautiful mountains. It has a top elevation of 2000 m (6562 ft.). The base elevation is 820 m (2690 ft.). The vertical drop is 1180 m (3870 ft.). Though the resort is quite small, it offers impressive slopes which are fairly long. There is abundant snow on these slopes. During winters, the average snow depth is  18 cm (7”) at the base elevation and 48 cm (19” ) at the summit elevation. Apart from the natural snow, the resort has high-performance snowmaking equipment like mobile snow canons and snow guns; this ensures increased snow reliability during the season. The slopes are well prepared and finely groomed on a daily basis.


 

Lifts

There is a total of 5 ski lifts that make the snowscape accessible. 3 of these are T-bar lifts, while the other two are gondola lift and beginner lift. The eight-seater Peter Anich gondola lift is at a height of 1400 m (4593 ft.). It brings guests from the base to the Stiglreith. From here, either the Sulzstich t-bar lift or the Ranggerkoepfl t-bar lift continues the journey and take the guests to the RanggerKoepfl. The Egghof lift, as well as a practice lift, are also present at the mountain station of the gondola. You can enjoy a splendid view of the area from the top of RanggerKoepfl. The total lift length is 4.3 km (2.7 mi). The capacity of these lifts is 5115 passengers per hour.

 

 

 

Best season to visit

The best time to visit Oberperfuss-Rangger Kopfl is mid-December to mid-March. On an average, the area features 32 sunny days, with December being the sunniest month.The area receives an average of 12 sunny days in December. Snow coverage is generally best in the month of February. The snow depth reaches 30 cm (12”) at the base and 71 cm (28”) at the summit elevation during February. Slopes for fun

The ski slopes in the RanggerKoepfl stretch to a total of 17 km (10.5 mi). The longest run is about 6 km (3.7 mi) long with a vertical descent of 1180 m (3870 ft.). It starts from the RanggerKoepfl and goes all the way down to the Oberperfuss base station. The slopes in this region are wide and long.

 

Easy runs– Almost 54% of the slopes are of the easy level. The area offers 8 km (5 mi) of blue slopes. These slopes are just perfect for beginners or anyone who has just started to learn skiing. You can ride up the mountains using the gondola lifts. You can brush up your skills at the practice area available near the mountain station of the gondola lift.

 

Intermediate runs-About 7 km (4.3 mi) of the runs are at the intermediate level. The valley run No. 1c offers variations and challenges because of the changes in terrain. You need to consistently readjust to new conditions if you are riding along this valley run.

 

Advanced runs- There is just one slope of the advanced level. It is about 2 km (1.2 mi) long. The ski area near slope No 3 offers powder snow. The entire run from the RanggerKoepfl to the base station near the gondola lift is challenging even for advanced skiers.

 

 

Night skiing-

You can enjoy skiing even in the evening from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The service is offered every Tuesday and Friday. There are ample floodlights along the slopes for you to enjoy the twinkling snowy runs. You can also enjoy exquisite culinary delights or social gatherings in the comfortable ski huts along the slopes.

 

Toboggan Rides

Skiing is not the only highlight of this resort. For non-skiers and action lovers, the resort offers toboggan rides. If you fancy tobogganing, RanggerKoepflis perfect for you. The toboggan run is about 10 km (6.2 mi) long, and approximately 8 km (5 mi) of this is well-lit in the evenings. You can cover the first 6 km (3.7 mi) of the uphill journey via 8-seater gondola lift. Reach the mountain station and sled down to have a thrilling experience. There are two more stops at higher elevations from where you can begin your tobogganing journey. It takes around 40 minutes to reach the first stop, theSulzstich restaurant. You can either ride down from here or walk for another 40 minutes to get to the theRosskogel cabin. Rosskogel cabin is particularly recommended if you want to enjoy longer runs.
