Olympic gold medalist Egon Zimmermann died at the age of 80-News

The Austrian ski association on Friday said that the Former Alpine ski racer and Olympic gold medalist Egon Zimmermann has died at the age of 80.  Zimmermann was born in the town of Lech in Austria and won the downhill gold medal at the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck. Egon Zimmermann became the third skier from his town to win an Olympic title. Patrick Ortlieb was the fourth person to joined them in 1992.

 

The Austrian Ski Association mentioned that his death had become a “sad certainty” on Friday and did not provide any further details.
