This small and lovely Pettneu ski resort is located in one of the sunniest parts of the Alberg. It is yet again in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It lies in the Tyrolian Alps, with aerial tramways and chairlifts assured. Skiing is like a story connected with the history of St. Anton since long. Many of the skiers immigrated to the United States in the 1930s, only to help popularize the sport. Well, the history held back, St. Anton is many a times listed as one of the world’s top skiing resorts, in terms of skiing and ski entertainment as well.

This place is a beautiful snow plaza and each year skiers from various places come searching for inner peace. This place may be blessed with a handful of sunshine during the Summers, but it gets even more beautiful in the winters with all the snow-capped canopied. What’s more, it is situated in the romantic Stanzernal area. A wonderful network of hiking paths is offered, and cross-country skiers can enjoy a lot. Every type of skier feels to be landed in heaven.

Ways to reach Pettneu-

You can reach this place by car or by train. Keep in mind, that there’s limited parking space available if you plan on coming by your own car or a hired one. The ideal entry is for day visitors. Though the parking is free of charge.

St. Anton and surrounding villages and resorts are served by a network of bus routes. In the town itself, there are two hubs.

A direct train connection is reachable between Lavenar–Pettneuam Arlberg.


Availability of lifts -

The elevation rises from 1228 meters / 4029 feet to 1500 meters / 4921 feet. 3 ski lifts are available, distributed into 1gondola lift and 2 platter/button lifts. All of these together make it possible to carry 2950 passengers in an hour’s time. The total length is 1.8 kilometers / 1.1 miles. If you are an enthusiast about lifts, follow the list below to find information about all the lifts available.

Pettneu-Lavenar, 471 meters (1545 feet) long has the capacity of riding 1800 people in an hour. It is a Gondola Chairlift.

Nessleralm, 950 meters (3116 feet) long has the capacity of riding 600 people in an hour. It is a T-bar Lift.

Lavenar-Übungslift, 350 meters (1148 feet) long has the capacity of riding 550 people in an hour. It is a J-bar Lift.


Slopes-

At Pettneu, well-maintained slopes of 12 kilometers (7.4 miles) are accessible for all the skiing skier would like to do. It includes slopes of varying degrees which determine their difficulty level. Due to limitations of the area, there is no snow park built at Pettneu. Even so, valley run is available.

Food -

With the availability of 11 restaurants and unfortunately just one bar, you would never go to sleep with an empty stomach. If you happen to be in this area, make sure you complete all of these 12 places.

Snowboarding -

All, the snowboarders, pack your stuff. The Stanton Park is yours to be. It has been specially established for the pleasure of snowboarders. It is now the perfect playground for the freestylers. The combination of unique design and creative elements has made this park an ideal one for contests and events lately. As the park is located right in front of the RendlBeach, it has a terrace, bar, and restaurant.

Cross-country Skiing -

Pettneu has lately become a great place for cross-country skiing. The approximately 40 kilometers (24.8 miles) long cross-country network offers many comfortable and athletically challenging types of route. Thus, satisfying a variety of levels. All the skiing tracks, wherever possible, are being made compatible for ice skating also.

Snowshoe Hiking -

Listen how the snow crunches under your boots when you go for a 70 kilometers (43.3 miles) long snowshoe hiking. It is not just the pistes and skiing being taken care of here, but all the hikers from around the world are most welcome to feel the drift of hiking in Pettneu. The paths are all cleared and marked, so even beginners or youth may choose this activity and go along with real ease. After all, there’s hardly anything more beneficial and closer to nature than a stroll in the snow. You can walk along the historic St. James Path all the way to the Eastern Town district of Gand, or not far from the charismatic cross-country, you could trail deep into the Verwall Valley, circle around Verwall Lake and return to the village, with your throat screaming for a cup of tea laced with rum.

Arlberger Winter Climbing -

The only meeting point for all ski enthusiasts is here. It lies in the Rendl area, is 850 meters long and safeguarded by steel cables. It is a real charm in Tyrol. Approximately 20% of the way must be climbed directly over rocks; the rest is straightforward going. What you really need is good climbing equipment as well as good touring shoes. It is free of charge if you already own a lift pass and if you do not, it just costs € 17.50 to travel to the start with the Rendl gondola.

Tobogganing -

The toboggan runs can sure not be missed. Pettneu has taken full care of this fact. Besides the slopes, the ski area has a 3.5 kilometers (2.1 miles) long completely natural toboggan run from Gampen to Nasserein till the Rodelstall. The course takes about 15 minutes to complete, and the vertical elevation is 1,670 feet. The toboggans need to be hired, and the use of space is free of cost.

Squash -

The world famous winter holiday resort also includes squash to offer to their guests. Active souls may practice the classy tennis in the former courts. A special covering allows 2 tennis courts to be converted into either a football pitch or a volleyball court. That is really cool, right. Squash players get their box and skittles roll over four bowling lanes.

Paragliding -

Look down on Pettneu with an eagle’s view, when you float through the skies. The flight school Flight Connection takes complete precautions for a good paragliding experience for you. All pilots have been flying for at least 4 years and own a special license for tandem flying.
