If you are looking ahead for a weekend full of fun, you should definitely visit the ski resort Schattwald-Zoblen located in the Tannheimer Tal in the Austrian state of Tirol (Tyrol). This ski resort is well-known for its ski and snowboarding facilities. The slopes are a treat for ski lovers and sports enthusiasts. With a top elevation of 1565 m (5134 ft.), Tannheimer Tal receives ample snowfall to keep the tourists engaged in various winter activities. The resort offers artificial snow-making equipment and grooms the slopes on a daily basis. The base elevation is as high as 1090 m (3576 ft.).  The vertical descent of the valley is 475 m (1558 ft.) The picturesque beauty of the Tannheimer Valley is a sight to behold.


 

Once you reach Schattwald-Zoblen, there are four lifts in service that will take you from the base station to the resort. Of these, 2 are chairlifts while the other 2 are T-bar lifts. These lifts can transport a total of 5405 passengers in one hour. The lift covers a total area of approximately 3.2 km (2 mi). The fastest of these lifts is the quad chairlift, Rohnenspitzethat was put into operation in 2009. It covers a total length of 1056 m (0.65 mi). It offers the highest carrying capacity of 1890 persons per hour among all the four lifts in Schattwald-Zoblen. The lift tickets vary from €15.50 to €35.50. The other lifts are quite old but durable; they date back to the 1975 and 1990s. A complimentary bus service is also available that links all the resorts present in the Tannheimer Valley.

 

A total of 15 km (9.3 mi) of slopes is available for you to practice your skiing skills. The slopes in this area will surely tempt you to ski all day if you love skiing. Skiing for All

There are different runs available to fulfill the need for all types of skiers- from novice to expert skiers. These slopes are well-prepared and groomed regularly to enhance your skiing experience. The longest run that is available is 3.5 km (2 mi) long with a vertical drop of 500 m (1640 ft.). Let us have a look at the various levels of runs available.

 

Easy runs– Most of the region offers wide slopes which are perfect for you to take your first steps in skiing. It stretches over 9 km (5.6 mi) of the slopes and is ideal for beginners and novices.

 

Intermediate runs– The intermediate or medium difficulty runs stretch over 4 km (2.5 mi) of the entire skiable runs. These slopes are relatively more challenging than the blues slopes. You can hone your skills on these slopes.

 

Difficult runs-As the names suggests, these are the toughest types of slopes available in the region for skiing. It particularly suits the expert skiers, but other skiers of the intermediate level can try these slopes too. It covers 2 km (1.24 mi) of the ski region of the area.

 

The ski slopes of this region are one of the major highlights of the resort. They operate from 8:45 in the morning to 4.15 in the evening depending on the weather. Night skiing facility is not yet available in the area.

 

 

 

Cross-country skiing

There is no better method to feel the calm and solemn winter nature than crossing the white monochrome wilderness at your own speed. Schattwald-Zoblenoffers 140 km (87 mi) of well-prepared trail network with an elevation difference of 50 m (164 ft.). The cross-country skiing conditions have just the right balance for you to ride freely along the glazing slopes. Of the 140 km (87 mi), a total of 70 km (43.5 mi) is cross-country ski runs. There are three classic ski runs where you can enjoy the mystique beauty of the snowy mountains as you drift along the slopes. There are four skating courses spread over a wide area of 70 km (43.5 mi).

 

Nature reserve Vilsalpsee owns the easy to medium route. This route is approximately 12 km (7.5 mi) long. The winter silence, snowy canopy, and the splendid mountains make your tour a memorable experience of nature.

 

The frozenHaldensee is just another trail that will mesmerize you. It passes through Nesselwängle and is about 19.2 km (12 mi) long. The place has a sheltered position which is still passable even if the snow is melting elsewhere.

 

Trained skiers can try out the cross-border tour on Oberjoch in the Allgäu. It is the highest mountain and ski village in Germany. It is a 31 km (19 mi) long trail.

 

Winter hiking

The best time to visit Schtattwal-Zoblen resort would be the winters. Enjoy your vacation with your loved ones. You can visit this resort anytime starting from mid-December to February. The lifts and ski areas are open for sports lovers from morning until it is dark (4.30 pm).

 

The resort also operates in summers from June end to end of September. If the pleasant weather conditions continue, the resort extends its operation days to October as well. The operation timings in summer: 8.30 am to 12.00 noon and 1.00 pm to 4.30 in the evening.
