Splendid Skiing At Schlick 2000


Stretched between the Kalkkogel (Schlicker Seespitze), 2804 m (9199.47 ft) and the Stubaital in Tyrol (Austria) is a 5 km (3.10 miles) long valley in the Stubai Alps of ski resort Schlick 2000. Snow baths beautifully in the mystic sunbeams, setting up just the right, comfortable aura to celebrate your ski dives and trails. Schlick 2000 attracts all kinds of tourist from adults to kids and beginners to experts. Season, depending on snow conditions starts from Dec and ends in April of the following year. You can treat yourself with some cozy huts amidst the snow landscape when you are not skiing.

Shout out to sports fans, beginners and professional for the skyline altitude measuring exciting ski runs and lifts the place offers. You can compete with other skiers for your speed on the “Pistenflitzer” speed run. It also offers Stubaital’s longest valley descent at 3 km (1.86 miles). There are 20.6 km (12.8 miles) of slopes and 1.5 km (0.93 miles) of ski routes for skiing and snowboarding. The lifts offered by the ski-resort are 9 in number. Under ski lift, there are two circulating ropeway/gondola lift, two chair lifts, and five t-bar lift/platter/button lift. The total capacity of lifts is of 12620 passengers per hour, covering 8.5 km (5.28 miles) in total. Facility for Sunkid Moving Carpet is also available.


Cross country skiing


Cross country skiing at Schlick 2000 takes you through a health and sight view promising trail of 3.5 km (2.17 miles). It is suitable for people of almost all major muscle group. The circular alpine cross country trail of the place is situated at 1, 600 m (5249.3 ft), offers unmatchable cross country skiing in the alpine setting of the Kalkkogel. The difference in altitude is 75 m (246 ft) which lead along the Schlickerboden spreading to larch and spruce forests. It is considered to be much snow secured. Cross-country skiing starts from the Schlick 2000 Valley Station with the cable car section Ito Froneben. This is further carried on foot or through skies, mostly used by skilled skiers to complete the cross-country trail.



Pistes and Landmarks


Total open slopes in the region are 17. Schlick 2000 is unique for the Pistes it offers. Then noticeable facility is detachable 6-seat CD and Zirmachbahn lift. It provides comfortable chairs, heating, and hood. It takes the skiers from the Valley Station at 1,910 m (6266.4 ft) up to 2,240 m (7349 ft) as low as less than 3 minutes.  Downhill of 3 km (1.86 miles), covered with artificial snow, paves the way for all levels of difficulty and speed run, beautiful slopes, and adventures of Free Nature Fun Park. For families traveling for skiing, there is a multi-coloured BIG Ron children’s area, the Schanzlin training hill, and the Schlick BIG Family ski school, mascot BIG Ron. Snow hole at the entrance of the Stubaital is a fun deal.


Other Activities 


A true hiking hub, as Schlick 2000 has represented through the years, it attracts winter hikers to be around the skiing area near Fulpmes. The very popular ones are hiking as well as snow shoe hiking. Nature with the truest essence of Tyrol can be viewed in Stubaital from the tranquil side. Various other routes stand perfect for hikers to explore the wild, romantic side of Schlick 2000.  The snowshoe trail starts at a Froneben middle station, ends at Schlick Alm which is 2.5 m (8.2 ft), with a walking time of 2 hours. Equipment for the trail can be rented at Valley Station from Intersport Pittl. The entire trail is well marked with signage from the middle station.



When not skiing, thrill with your family and mates while sledding. It is sportive, fun and entertaining with family or other groups. A total of 12 sled runs known for distinctive Naturrodelbahn quality seal are in Stubaital. It doesn’t stop here. The skiing center of Schlick 2000 has two runs on offer. Night sledding enjoys the hottest attraction tag. For a relaxing sledding, there are atmospheric stops along the run too.



Paragliding provides a majestic bird’s eye view of stunning mountain formations of Stubai from up above. The Stubaital, known as Tyrol’s flying paradise for para and hang gliders fetches superb thermal lift, first-class take-off, and landing sites. A popular starting point in Schlick 2000 at 2,130 m (6988.1 ft), The Kreuzjpch offers the required thermal conditions with the difference in altitude as over 2,230 m (7316.27 ft) to Fulpmes. During the summer holidays in the Stubaital, beginners can have the possibility to testa tandem flight with Para fly Stubaital flight school. It’s so much amazing to keep you busy with the exciting other activities when you don’t want to do ski runs in the area.



The list is never ending for the adventure diggers. Schlick 2000 ‘s packet full of activities makes it the perfect skiing destination. So, here is the climbing it offers. Along with the establishment of Alpin Erlebnispark, development of a climbing training ground for all levels of difficulty was initiated in the vicinity of the Kreuzjoch Summit Station. For beginners as well as trained climbers, there are the via Ferrata trails of the Alpin Erlebnispark offering ample challenges to suit various needs of adventure. It should be noted that the usage of Ferrata trails for climbing is taken as an assumption for your climbing experience and knowledge of climbing basics. Since safety comes first, various safety equipment such as climbing harness, climbing, the helmet is mandatory. This equipment can be rented from Sepp Rettenbacher Skiund Bergsteigerschule.



It’s another paradise for free riders in the skiing area of The Schlick 2000. There is alluring hinterland with steep gullies, cliff drops, snow drifts and freestylers from all levels. The deep snow it makes every year is full of thrills for every rider.  Again, since safety is first, one should always reach out to the avalanche warning service and look out for the orange avalanche warning flashers that are on the panorama boards.




Spot for snowboarders and freestylers, Stubai snowpark at the Schlick 2000 ski centre located next to Sennjoch piste is designed under the specialist supervision of Stubai riders. It challenges the skills with well-crafted obstacles. There are exciting kickers and rails for runs and tricks. The unique mountain world is the place for shooting snowboarding and spectacular freestyle videos against the background of the Kalkkogel Mountains.
