There is snow everywhere, pretty and chilling weather to enjoy.  Time for some family gatherings, to create some memories and Instagram posts for the new holiday season. Flaunt your sales purchased items to your friends. Santa is laughing around the corner waiting to gift a few goodies. This season is best for a planned or a surprise trip, what better way to spend time together than on inches thick snow along with loved ones.

If you need a location for some snow adventure, then Smuggler’s Notch is the place for you. Smuggler’s Notch offers year-round fun, located only 30 miles from Burlington International Airport in the town of Cambridge near Jeffersonville, Vermont. The place is scenic with many tours and zip lines to offer.  It is rated as one of the top family destination spots in the country. Guests enjoy a different variety of lodging options with 1 to 3 bedroom condos amidst the lush green mountains of Vermont. The resort is known for providing hospitality for over 60 years. The winter fun starts in the month of November and has all sorts of snow sports to enjoy. The resort is open around 135 days for the snow fun.

The mountain has an enormous summit of 3639 ft. with a base of 1030 ft. and a vertical drop of 2610 ft. Riders can expect an average snowfall of 322 inches. In addition to the 1000 acres of skiing terrain, guests will find an extra 58 km of cross country and snowshoe trails. There are six terrain parks with 1000 acres of skiable terrain and snowmaking covering 192 acres. The 2610 ft. drop is accessed over a total of 78 trails with eight lifts.  The Smuggler’s Resort is the only resort in Vermont with a triple black diamond. This makes it one of the best places in the region to visit with your family and friends during the winters and have a great time enjoying the various fun things on offer here.

Skiing and Snowboarding


Skiing is spread across 1000 acres of terrain accessed by 78 trails of which 19 % are beginner runs, 50 % are beginner runs, 25 % advanced runs, and the remaining 6 % expert runs. The longest run is 3 miles long. The terrain offers all sorts of slopes for skiers of different levels. These runs are perfect for skiing and snowboarding, making it one of the best places in the region that attracts visitors from all across the region.

Lessons

There are a wide variety of programs to suit people with learning matched with their skill. If you have children, then there are numerous ways to teach your kids with care. Little Rascals on Snow program is for kids aged 2 and a half to 3 years old in the setting of their treasured nursery.

Discovery Dynamos is for kids aged 3 to 4 years to encourage development and build confidence within them. Adventure Rangers is for kids aged 7 to 10 for those with a curiosity for exploration. Notch Squad is for kids aged 10 to 15 to taste the fun of 3 mountain playgrounds. Mountain Explorers are for kids aged 16 to 20 for suitable enjoyment and thrills.

For adults Ski and Snowboard lessons for 18 and above, there are group lessons, private lessons Women’s multi-week program and Mountain experience Camp. There are also programs for all ages like Smuggler’s Notch adaptive program and Night school for boarding and night school for jibbing.

Lift Tickets


The Smuggler’s Notch resort has a total of 8 lifts of which six are double and remaining 2 are surface lifts. Adults are aged 19 to 64, youth are aged 6 to 18 and seniors 65 and older, young people of ages 5 and below.

In a regular season for half day, it costs an adult $ 64, youth and seniors $ 44.For a full day, it costs an adult $ 72, youth and seniors $ 54.  For an additional day, it costs an adult $ 56, youth and seniors $ 44. Tickets for ages under 5 are free on all days.

In Early/ late season for half day, it costs an adult $ 40, youth and seniors $ 30.For a full day, it costs an adult $ 52, youth and seniors $ 40.  For an additional day, it costs an adult $ 40, youth and seniors $ 30. Tickets for ages under 5 are free on all days.

In holiday season for half day, it costs an adult $ 60, youth and seniors $ 48.For a full day, it costs an adult $ 76, youth and seniors $ 60.  For an additional day, it costs an adult $ 60, youth and seniors $ 48. Tickets for ages under 5 are free on all days. Lift tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable as they will not be reprinted. They offer special group rates for people traveling in large groups.

Snow Tubing


Snow Tubing is done on lighted terrain even after the lifts are closed on Sir Henry’s Hill. No ski boots are allowed, and an adult must accompany children under 12. Available daily from 5 pm to 8 pm. For family fun join the family tubing party which welcomes all ages and has a bonfire and hot chocolate.

There is also daytime tubing at the North Hill.  Located adjacent to the North Hill Aquatics Facility, guests will need to take the Village Shuttle as there is no parking at this facility. Tubing is only for people with a Smuggler pass and is included in the Club Smuggler’s package. You can enjoy the fun of snow tubing with your family and friends and make the most of your visit at Smuggler Notch.

Ice Skating

The natural outdoor skating area is located right next to the Nordic ski and snowshoe adventure center. For some extra fun with loved ones while dancing and jumping on secured snow. It is open on the weekdays from 9 am to 8 pm. Use of Ice Skating Rink is included in all the Club Smugglers’ Packages or with your Smuggs Pass or Season Pass. Regular price is $5 or free with skate rental. Skate rental is $5 per pair, sharpening services available. Join the family fun!

Zip line canopy tour

Explore the green mountains of Vermont at Smuggler’s Notch with their eco-adventure, zip lines. Vermont’s first world-class canopy tour offers a scenic view of centuries-old hemlocks, mature sugar maples, and paper birch. The tour consists of several zip lines through dense forests suspension bridges and rappels to educate, entertain and inspire people.

Each tour is accompanied by two guides familiar with the local ecology and natural history who are prepared to deliver an unforgettable experience. The tour will be one of a kind and will be memorable making you reminisce from time to time about the woods. Though the tour is open round the year, reservations are to be made to get the tour.

Air boarding

Air boarding is one best winter sport, an Air board is an inflated sled equivalent to the size of water raft, and they are easy to maneuver. Air boards are used from 2 pm to 4 pm. Guests must attend a short instructional guide before venturing on their own. Users must be at least 12 years old, 49” tall and wear a helmet.

Smuggler’s Mountain is one of the best locations for some traditional family fun. The place has a huge drop of about 2610 ft. which attracts skiers to the resort to test their capabilities. They offer activities and amenities such as restaurants, lounges, entertainment centers for families, indoor pool, and hot tubs, massage, yoga, and winter walking.
