Spring Mountain Ski Area – Glide away with a Snow Ride

December is here, perhaps the most awaited month of the year. It’s the time when one gets to have some reminiscing and memories to create. The end of the year has come when we look back and think of all the achievements and failures that we had to overcome. This time of the year is when some snow decoration beautifies everything. A weekend that lasts more than a month has begun, and plans have started to seed. Time for a vacation and a break from our busy lives.

Spring Mountain Ski Area is located in the Spring Mountain Pennsylvania, minutes away from Lansdale Exit #31. The Mountain prides itself of a 527 ft summit with a base of 78 ft base and a 450 ft drop. Spring Mountain is open all time round the year, offering different sports according to the season. As for winter, they have many snow sports such as snow tubing, snowshoe racing skiing, snowboarding and zip lines. The mountain boasts of more than half a century of experience. The hospitality and service at the place have garnered great reviews.

The Spring Mountain consists of 45 acres of skiable terrain, with 45 acres of night skiing and snowmaking covering the whole area. Thus, even without any natural they assure you can have all the snow fun you need. It has a total of 8 skiing trails divided on the basis of skiing level. There are six lifts, two snow tubing runs, and two terrain parks to have all the gliding fun one requires. It opens for snow sports for a total of 100 days starting from December or January.

Lift Tickets

The Spring Mountain has six lifts of which 3 are double chairs, two surface lifts, and a triple chairs lift. The ticket rates depend on the day of visitation. On weekdays for all area, lift costs $38, and on weekends it costs $48. Evening lifts which open after 4 pm on weekdays and weekends cost $30. Beginner Area Lift Tickets cost $28 and on weekends $38.

Senior tickets (aged 60 and above) cost $25 on weekdays and weekends $35. They offer a ten ticket plan for those traveling in big groups which cost $380 on both weekends and weekdays. Lift tickets for ages below 5 and aged above 70 are free. There is also an offer for one free lift ticket for every 20 tickets.

Skiing and Snowboarding

The Spring Mountain Ski Area has eight trails of which 37% are beginner runs, 50% are for intermediate runs and 13% for advanced runs. They have snow all the time we need with their newly equipped state-of-the-art snow guns. If you lack the equipment or forget them, then they have latest rentals according to your requirements. Lessons are also provided who need a good learning experience. The lessons are charged according to the plan you select. Perfect cure for the winter blues is offered at the skiing destination of Philadelphia. Spring Mountain offers experienced teachers for some good snowboard learning. There are a lot of skiing lessons and programs that one can opt according to their requirements.


The rental charges apply according to the day of visitation. On Ski or Board Package all day it costs $28 on weekdays and $33 on weekends. On Ski or Board Package after 4 pm, it has the same costs. Ski or Board Package for ages 4 and under at weekdays cost $15 and on weekends cost $20. The ten rental plan for a group is $280 on all days. Helmets cost $10 on all days.

Snow Tubing

Snow tubing is done by lying on the stomach, so one has to make sure that they follow the instructions provided. To qualify for snow tubing children must be of minimum age 6 and be 42 inches tall to able to ride. Each tube only fits one person. All participants must sign a liability release, as for children parents must sign the liability release. On weekdays tubing sessions start at 5 pm and end at 9 pm. On weekends tubing sessions start at 9 am and end at 8:30 pm. Tubing tickets start at the price of $24 and depend on the day and session you choose.

Snowshoe Race

The Pennsylvanian snowshoe race commences on the Spring Mountain. Competitors of any level are welcomed including beginners. The registration begins at 7 am and race starts at 8 am sharp. The entry fee is $25; $30 includes goody bags awards, refreshments and an associate membership in USSSA. Rentals are limited thus reservations are required. The course is a 5k loop for natural snow, if machine snow then 2.5 k loops and for no snow the trails are qualified.


There are different packages for different people as per their comfort level.

Learn to Ski/Snowboard is for beginners taking classes for the first time and the lessons take place on the beginner trails. Ages 6 through adults are qualified for this package. It includes beginner area lift tickets and rentals and a 1 and half an hour of first timer lesson. The price is $60 on weekdays and non-holidays and $75 on weekends and holidays. Further, this package cannot be booked in advance. Only one parent will be allowed with their child on the purchase of beginner area ticket.

Group lessons are available from Wednesdays through Sundays in 5 sessions and on Mondays and Tuesdays 2 sessions beginning at 4:30 pm and 6 pm. These sessions are 1 and a half hour long available for people with all levels of skills. It includes a rental package and an all area ticket for $75 on weekdays and non-holidays and $90 on weekends and holidays. Three lessons for the same person can avail a discount of up to 20%.

Private Skiing Lessons are available for skiers of all abilities. These lessons don’t include rentals and lift tickets. Each session is an hour long. These lessons are available for people aged 3 and above. The cost is $85 and for an extra person $60. If you avail these private lessons for the same person, a 20% discount is applicable.

Adult Progressive lessons are for adults who want to improve their skills by a commitment of 4 to 8 weeks. Students should have the skills of a beginner or intermediate. Two four-week sessions cost $215 per session and include 8 hours of instruction, all area lift tickets, and rentals. If you already have skiing equipment and have brought your own, then the cost is $190 and $140 if you have season pass and equipment.

The Spring Mountain Skiing Area is often a winter tour spot for large groups and hence has many offers for groups of more than ten people. Teenagers can be seen all over the place here as they love this place. The hospitality here is impeccable with a great place to spend some family time. Snow tubing better is done with old boots as they require you to stop with the feet. The place is much cheaper and close by to Philadelphia. The rentals though may need a lot of waiting to be done, so it’s better you get your own equipment to the respective event. The passes and tickets are at a reasonable rate and have many discounts to which conditions apply.
