Tahoe Donner – A Family Ski Destination

For this family fun, Tahoe Donner is just the right place for you. Tahoe Donner Resort is located on Donner Ridge near Truckee, California. The place has a vertical height of 600 feet. The place has a top elevation of 7400 feet and a base elevation of 6750 feet. The place has an amazing skiable area of 120 acres. The ski resort is smaller than any other resort, but that also is an advantage. The advantage is that because of being small the resort has warmth and every inch of the resort has a personal touch. The place has four lift systems out of which one is a quad, one double chair, and two conveyors. The longest run of the place is Mile Run. The resort is proud of the fact that they do not lack advancing with time. Recently a new 700 sq. foot yurt has been installed to facilitate a slope side warm area which is meant for lessons. Also, this provides with a large sun deck.

The place has terrain that can be used for learning by rookies or challenging the experienced skiers. Terrain has 14 different trails in different directions.

Beginner Level – out of the total 14 runs there are 30 % for beginners. The slope is at a great height even for a rookie. So although the trail will be easy the excitement, thrill, and mind blowing experience will not be reduced at all.

Intermediate Level – out of the total 14 runs there are 40 % for the intermediate skiers. The trails not only rejoice the skiers but also enhance their skills.

Experienced Level – out of the total 14 runs there are 30 % for the experienced skiers. These terrains are meant to challenge the skiers with advanced skiers.

There are three different terrain parks over there.

Timings

• The daily lift operating hours for open season regular working days are 9 am to 4 pm.
• You can reserve tickets between 8 am to 4 pm.
• The rental shops are open between 8 am to 4:30 pm.

Lessons Available

Lessons are available for everyone. The place is proud of the fact that their lessons start for people from the age of 3. Following are the types of lessons available –

• Private Lessons – you can join in a group or individually. The instructors will pay extra individual attention and class will move at your pace. Advance booking is highly recommended. The charges are different for different duration like for half day it is $ 269 for not more than four people, for a full day it is $ 424 for up to 4 people and one hour private per person it is $ 109 and additional $ 25 for every extra person.
• Adult Ski & Snowboarding Group lesson – the package includes a full day lift, the group lesson for 1.75 hours and equipment for the whole This package is available for persons who are above 13 years of age. If you are interested only in the lesson, then it is $ 49. The lessons are available in the morning from 10 am to 11:45 am and then at afternoon from 1:30 pm to 3:15 pm. Prior reservation is recommended.
• Child Ski & Snowboard Group Lesson – the package is meant for all level skiers. It also includes all – day lift and the group lesson with equipment for the entire The lesson is meant for kids from seven to twelve years of age. The charges are $ 139 for entire day and $ 99 for half a day. Full day lesson will include lunch. The lessons are from 10 am to 11:45 am, 1:30 pm to 3:15 pm and 10 am to 3:15 pm.
• Snowflake Ski School – the package includes instructors and a special kid’s room. Kids of age 3 to 6 years of age can enter. The charges depend on age and duration. For kids of age three, the half-day rate is $ 99. For children of age 4 – 6 the full day charge is $ 139 and $ 99 is half day charge. The lessons start in the morning from 10 am to11:45 am, 1:30 pm to 3:15 pm and 10 am to 3:15 pm.
• Snow Shredders – this is a snowboarding lesson meant for kids of age 5 to 6 years. The charges are $ 139 for a day and $ 99 for half day. The lessons start in the morning from 10 am to 11:45 am, 1:30 pm to 3:15 pm and 10 am to 3:15 pm.

Special Events

Following are the ways Tahoe Donner Resort makes it special for you –

Parent’s day (Tuesday) – bring your kids (under 13), and parents will receive a complimentary all-day lift ticket. Get a great deal for your kids and you might land an opportunity for free ski.

Wacky Wednesdays – great deals for you only on Wednesdays.

Throwback Thursday – the lift tickets for children, cost just $ 14 and $ 25 for adults.

Local Discounts – Locals of Truckee, North Lake Tahoe and Reno can avail this discount on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The lift tickets for children is $ 14 and $ 25 for adults.

School Dayz – from 9th of January 2017 the resort will offer discounts for all students only on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Military Discount – the full day ticket for lifts is $ 25. ID is a must.

Discounted rates – Discount for groups is available for downhill skiing. If a group of more than 20 people is available, then contact the resort, and an exclusive package will be created for you.

17th Of December – Customer Appreciation Day is celebrated by skiing for all at $5.

25th Of December – People get to have breakfast and half day skiing with Santa.

31st. Of December – It is a fun event for intermediate skiers of ages 10 and above and can ski in the dark only at Race Course run. To secure a spot in the parade come early and enjoy the music and snacks that are provided in the bar area just prior to the parade. Sign-ups start from 4:30 – 5:45 p.m. while the chair loading time is 6:15 p.m. It is a FREE event!

The resort respects all its guests and especially senior citizens. That is why we want them to be active and participate like any other skier. So to motivate them we offer free lift tickets for guests above the age of 70. Also, they can avail of free season passes. Guests of age 60 – 69 can avail of discounts on daily lift tickets. So all the guests are welcome.
