The South American ski resorts have been struggling to keep the life running due to harm weather in the region. The well-known Chilean cat skiing operation Ski Arpa announced last weekend that they would be unable to open for the winter on account of flat snow conditions. Also, the Swiss Ski Team announced that they have already canceled their Chilean training camp and decided to train on the high altitude glaciers of Saas-Fee and Zermatt.
Ski Portillo has 57% of its lifts operating, though conditions have forced the resort to largely rely on snowmaking. Substantially farther south, in Bariloche, Argentina, snow conditions look far more promising. Cerro Catedral currently has 30 of its 38 runs open.
