Ski resorts in France's southern Pyrenees are forced to close slopes due to heavy winds of up to 200 kilometers per hour on Friday. Anais Aguillon of the ski holiday website N'Py which has eight ski resorts in the Pyrenees said that they are forced to close the slopes when the winds become too strong to ensure the safety of skiers. However, the slopes are intended to reopen on the weekend when the situation calms down. Meteo, the national weather service of France has placed four departments in the Pyrenees on the second-highest orange alert as weather warnings of strong winds.
