Zauchensee Flachauwinkl ski resort is located in the Salzburg Sportwelt, Austria. The resort is crowned as the highest ski area in the Salzburg Sportwelt. At Zauchensee skiers are promised an unparallel experience at the World Cup tested runs, easy on pocket slides along the free riding slopes and cozy stays at the ski lodges. The trio above are a delight for family vacations and traveler enthusiasts. Summer in the Brandnertal

Sporty change offers 400 km (248.54 miles) of hiking trails, climbing gardens, 110 km (68.35 miles) of challenging mountain biking trails, an 18-hole golf course, tennis and indoor courts, riding arenas and stables, three 3D arc parcours and much more. Timings starting from Mon-Sat: 08.30-13.00 & 14.00-16.30 hours.

The elevation of the ski resort is about 2,188 meters (1.3 miles) while the base elevation is about 1,000 meters (0.6 miles). If the height is threatening you, do not worry! The set of 15 lifts will help you cross over to the runs in no time and with ease. The modern Highliner I and Highliner II lifts can take guests directly from the A10 Tauren Autoban up to the middle of the ski resort, Zauchensee, and the time taken? Hardly a few minutes with no traffic!


Kind of lifts

The slopes at Zauchensee- Flachauwinkl are accessible via chairlifts and Gondola lifts, the lifts are equipped with weather protectors, so no worries! The total number of lifts is 15 with an average carrying capacity of 25988 passengers/ hour.  The total run of the lifts is about 14.4 kilometers (8.9 miles).  There is one Funicular with a carrying capacity of 6 persons per Funicular, 3 Circulating ropeways with an average carrying capacity of 4 persons per lift. The resort is equipped with six modern Chairlifts that can carry four persons per lift on an average.  5 T- bars are also available for the base area.




Levels of difficulty

A terrain designed for along 44 kilometers (27.3 miles), sprawling with snow. Yes! Zauchensee- Flachauwinkl has it all. The snow fields are divided among difficult, intermediate and easy runs. Given the length of the slopes, there is enough room for everyone, whether you are a professional or a learner.

Novices– For the toddlers in the field of skiing, we offer you a 23.5 kilometers (14.60 miles) long stretch of wide and easy slopes. Designed for you to take your first steps on snow, the runs are smooth for a comfortable and relaxing ride. Do not hesitate in taking professional help from our local advisors.

Semi- pros- 16.2 kilometers (10.06 miles) of untainted terrain. Yes! For semi- professionals this is the best possible run. The slopes are crafted for a safe and fun-filled ride, offering the intermediate skier a good chance at skiing. You can go sliding down the snow without any worries about your inexperience.

Professionals– Here is the most difficult run, spreading along a length of 4.3 kilometers (2.6 miles) the difficult slope is for our experienced players. Those who know the nuances of the game can try their talents here. Do bring in your secret skills as there is a lot of competition among the best of bests here!

Additional ski route of 3.5 kilometers (2.17 miles) is also available for practicing. Families and children can work on this slope and learn the art of skiing.

Longest run-

Spreading across a length of 5.3 kilometers (3.2 miles), the ski path at the Highliner runs from the Rosskopf, passing the two Highliner and down to the base station in Flachauwinkl.

Hoechalmrinne, with a length of 4.3 kilometers (2.6 miles) and an elevation difference of 570 meters (0.35 mile), this slope leads down from the Rosskopf driving beneath the two chairlifts to Zauchensee.

Gamskogel Ost run. The length of this slope is 4.5 kilometers (2.7 miles), and the elevation difference is 720 meters (0.44 mile).

Most difficult runs- Tauernkar, this slope can deliver chills running down your spine. With a length of 1.5 kilometers (0.93 miles) this is the most difficult slope. Running from beneath the Tauernkar lift passing through a few challenging steps, the slope is a perfect run for the daring will. Those who wish to switch to an easier ride after the first descent can do by swapping onto the intersecting blue run heading down the valley.



Snowboarding- Tired of skiing? Try snowboarding! A great exercise to get out in the sun. Descent the shining slopes of the Salzburg Mountains and enjoy an unprecedented view of the valley. Timings to remember

The slopes are closed from 17:00 hours (5:00 pm) to 8:00 hours (8:00 am). Skiing and walking on the runs within this period is forbidden.  General season timings are dependent on the snow conditions, usually beginning from the late April.




Ticket prices

During the peak season, day tickets are priced at € 50.00 for adults, €37.50 for the children and €25.00 for the youth. Multi-day passes are also available; booking can be done online using the ski pass calculator.  Prices for the ski passes may vary according to season and time duration.


How to get here?

Good and comfortable travel can enhance your holiday experience, especially while traveling with family, you would want to travel safe and short.

For those who prefer a car over other means of transport, the mountain road to Zauchensee should be your choice. Free parking is available until 10 pm. If you are choosing a plane journey, the nearest airport is Salzburg at a distance of approximately 78 kilometers (48. 4 miles) from the ski resort. No direct train connection exists, one can choose regional trains to reach Altenmarkt from Salzburg, and there travel through car rentals to the ski resort.
